I felt that I should say this:

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey.

So, I'm the first to post in...a month or two (or three?)

Today is 7-8-09 day, which is neat.
My mom is leaving to go on a trip, and I'm playing the "I'm not paying any attention to you" game with my homework.

Here, have some American ego, courtesy of Passive Aggressive Notes Dot Com, who got it from some anonymous college student.

Oh, room 013, you're always good for a laugh.

Atlanta

So, we're in Atlanta for the National High School Mock Trial
Competition. We've been here since Tuesday morning - extremely early -
and have been practicing intensely ever since. Not to say we haven't
been having fun. Everyone is great, and we're having a great time. We
went out to a fancy dinner last night and it was amazing. The food was
phenominal, the company was better. We just had a great time.
After that though, some of us went out to see Atlanta. We had so much
fun, it was unbelievable. We ended up going to Metro Cafe - an old
fashioned diner slash karaoke lounge where we ate breakfast on Tuesday
morning - and got three huge slices of delicious cake (red velvet,
strawberry shortcake, and white chocolate rasberry mousse cake) to
share between seven of us. It was an amizing time listening to a team
that had just scrimmaged us sing fairly horribly and eating delicious
cake with friends.
Our noses are back to the grindstone today, as we have several
scrimmages and lots of practice.
Oh yeah, did I mention that we were sever cake by Jesus? He was pretty
cool.

Packing

So, I've started packing for the Mock Trial trip to Atlanta on Monday. It's kinda fun trying to figure out what to pack and such. But I can't do a lot of it because I need to buy stuff and get my dad's suits. But my dad doesn't come home until tomorrow, so...
Anyway, I haven't posted in a while, and I thought I would. And I'll be blarging all through the Atlanta trip, as well as the Augusta trip for Science Olympiad next next week.

Pretty Cool Weekend

My weekend was absolutely amazing, and I'll share it with you once homework is done.
For now, in my brief break, I would like to share the following with you: the Skullcandy Limited Lifetime Warranty. I got some of their earbuds for my iPod for my birthday.

"If the product is damaged by aggressive music listeners sliding a rail, sliding down the emergency ramp of your aircraft, slammed in your locker, slammed in your car door, run over by a car, running into a wall, getting run out of town, mountain biking, road biking, sky diving, beating your boyfriend unmercifully, getting beat down by the man, blown up in an accidental experimentation with flammable substances, or damaged in any other every day experience, it means you are living your life the way we want our product used!...Love, Skullcandy."

Yeah, pretty darn good. I'm going to use the stencil eventually, probably that third suggestion there.

Rant cont.

I mean, really, what would happen if I simply said, "Screw all of this. I refuse to do it."

Maybe I will do just that. :P

Needless to say...

I'm really bad at posting on a regular basis.
There just isn't enough time anymore...Thesis papers, stupid history packets I can't understand, rehearsal...I would be happy just to be able to sleep over 7 hours a night. Is it too much to ask that students be treated as workers? They say being a student is our job and we need to concentrate on it, but do they even allow us the time we need to do our job properly? We spend 7 hours a day in school and alot of the time out of school on Homework. When are we ever supposed to stop!? Angry rant over. Time to go back to my English paper on censorship in schools, if anyone would like to comment on the negative effects of cutting off our moral decisions and supporting ignorance by banning books and blocking the internet, please feel free. :)

Here's a Question

Why is the Count from Sesame Street Jewish? He has a huge nose and a stereotypical Eastern European accent. This in and of itself is horrible. Not all Jews have large noses nor are they all Eastern European. I am neither. People seem to think the the term Jewish is synonymous with the term Eastern European. Eastern European is an ethnicity, Jewish is a religion. Jews are all over the world. There are Jews from Europe, Israel, America, Canada, Asia, Africa (in fact there are quite a few Jews in Ethiopia - at least there were before Israel evacuated them from the oppressive government there), and every other area in the world! So please, next time you mean to say Eastern European, say it. Not Jewish.

Anyway, that's not the point. Why is the Count Jewish (or at least made to seem so)? Is it that all Jews love to count? That all Jews are accountants? Because, I can assure you, I hate math. I would never ever want to become an accountant. I can't speak for all Jews, but I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that the vast majority of Jews would never have wanted to go into a career involving counting other people's money.

To me, it's like Sesame Street might have just as well put in an Asian character who runs a laundry. Or an Indian cab driver. Hell, even a Canadian, draft-dodging, pot-smoking hippie! The point is that stereotypes are wrong. And we wonder why people are bound by them? Because they are being forced into childrens' heads in Saturday morning cartoons!

I think this needs to stop. I'm not saying that everything ever published needs to be censored so as to make sure it doesn't insult anyone, just that kid's shouldn't be force-fed stereotypes and racism.

So, it's been a while...

And, I found this really beautiful video on YouTube. Do you know that chain email that you've gotten several times about the nine-year-old terminal cancer patient? That beautiful poem about slowing down and taking more time for life? Yeah, well, I really like it, so I went online to see if I could find a good narration. This video is, I think, the best one. I could have done without the beginning narration, it's kind of unnecessary. The middle part - the actual poem - is what I liked. But it's beautiful animation if anything.

So, how was it? Again, the beginning athiest guy was not what I particularly desired, but I really liked the poem narration.
